Disclaimer: Buyer is expected to have read through entire sales policy before purchase or inquiry is made. This sales policy is in effect 24/7 and at all times whether buyer has read through it or not. This is the buyer's responsibility.
Appointments are available upon request should you care to come out and look at any rabbit for sale or meet the parents of any upcoming litters. After you have made your appointment, please try to be on time. If you are going to be late, please call, do not make me call you to see where you are. I plan most of my days around your appointment, if you are late, you may miss your scheduled time.
JAK Rabbitry asks that you please be respectful and responsible during your visit. Any member of your party is considered your responsibility. This includes your children. I do not appreciate having to watch peoples' young children for them while they are in my rabbitry oblivious to the fact that their 5 year old is poking my rabbits in the face.
There is also absolutely no smoking on the property. This includes my driveway and your car, as most people still tip their ash out of their windows into my driveway. My property is also not grounds for the disposal of your cigarette butt. Please dispose of it before you get here.
Please do not bring any other animals with you on your visit. We have a wide variety of animals here on the farm and we cannot have other people's pets wandering about, barking at my own animals, or making my dogs bark while we are conducting our own business.
If you plan on paying for an animal in cash, please be sure to bring the exact change, as I usually do not carry cash at all and I cannot change your bills.
It has also become a problem over the past few months with people emailing me in regards to an interest in a particular rabbit or litter. I respond to all their questiosn or send them the pictures they have asked for and I get no response. For days, or weeks. Eventually I return the email a second time asking if the person is still interested. Only then do I sometiems get a response. Please be courteous people and do not waste my time like this. I do not have the time to chase everyone around all the time. Unless you follow the guidelines listed in regards to reserving a rabbit, the rabbit you an inquiring about WILL NOT BE HELD for you. So please take the responsibility upon yourself to call or email or I cannot promise you the rabbit you are interested in will still be available when you finally decide to respond. Should you get my response and decide you have lost interest in this rabbit, please at least tell me so I am not left wondering about you and waiting to hear from you. This is rude. Please take into consideration the efforts I am making for you and all my other buyers to make sure everyone is treated fairly and ends up with a rabbit they are happy with.
If I do not currently have what you are looking for, you are welcomed to be placed on a waiting list as per your request. I will then contact the people on that list as rabbits become available. Everyone on the list may be contacted at the same time however, the rabbits in question must be reserved on a first come first serve basis, meaning if you are first on my waiting list, you get first pick. Once you are contacted you have 4 days to respond via email or phone. If you have not contacted me in those 4 days, your name will be skipped on the list.
Rabbits are only available for reservation once they have been tattooed. In order to reserve a specific rabbit, buyer must pay 50%of the animal(s) price. I must receive your deposit within 1 week of your consent of the sale. Deposits are acceptable in the form of cash, cashier's check, money order, and sometimes checks. For sales over $150, checks will not be accepted. Acceptable checks are required to have your driver's license or state issued ID number at the top of the check. You then have 2 weeks to arrange a pickup. After 2 weeks have passed, if you have not arranged to pick up your rabbits, you WILL LOSE YOUR DEPOSIT. No refunds will be given. If you terminate the sale after you have laid a deposit, it will not be returned. If I myself terminate the sale for whatever reason, your deposit will be returned. This policy came into effect as people were asking me to hold rabbits and I was passing up several other offers for the animals and then the buyer backed out of the sale, leaving me with an animal I was no longer able to sell. You will pay the remaining 50% of the sale price upon pickup.
JAK Rabbitry will guarantee the health of each rabbit for one week after the sale date. This does not include accident, or unexplained death. If you wish to return or exchange your animal, I must be contacted before one week (7 Days) has passed. If you contact me on day 8 in regards to a return or sickness that has appeared in your animal, this is now considered beyond the one week guarantee and will not be covered. If your animal becomes sick within the 1 week under your care, I will reimburse your money upon return of the rabbit (dead or alive as proof) OR I can put the rabbit's original sale price as credit towards another rabbit upon return of the sick animal. Although JAK Rabbitry assures the health and soundness of each animal sold, we cannot guarantee things like fertility, production, or show potential, and the buyer is responsible for checking each animal before it leaves the Rabbitry. Buyer should check that the ear number matches the pedigree, and that the sex was correct. Returns or exchanges will not be done based on the buyer not checking for these things. After the 1 week guarantee, all sales are final, however, should in the future you find that you are no longer able to care for your rabbit, please return it to JAK Rabbitry for a re-home rather than bringing it to a shelter or placing an ad in the paper. JAK Rabbitry takes care of it's own and we would much rather see the rabbit returned to us than ending up in a shelter as has happened many times previously.
Shipping is available should the drive or distance prove a bit too much for you. Please note that this can become expensive. The buyer will be responsible for costs pretaining to shipping. JAK Rabbitry will schedule the flight, check in the rabbit at the airport, and assemble the necessary items for shipment along with your rabbit. Your rabbit will be shipped through Continental Airlines. Continental takes wonderful care of animals being shipped and their planes have a special comparment that is temperature and pressure controlled for the animal to rest safely and comfortable during the flight. In the event of a layover, your animal will be watered and tended to between flights.
In the event of long flights, the 1 week guarantee is in effect the moment the animal leaves my custody. JAK Rabbitry is not responsible for any damages to the animal or carrier during shipping, though these are expected to be at a minimum and so far in our dealings with Continental, all animals and carriers have arrived perfectly safe and intact.
The prices for shipping can vary, as the weight of the animal and carrier is what greatly affects the cost. The general cost for shipping is $160. This cost only covers up to 9 pounds (carrier + rabbit combined). If the combination is over 9 pounds, you will be charged an overdraft fee and for each additional pound overweight. We will do our best to ensure that the cost of shipping is at minimum to you without compromising the comfort and safety of the rabbit.
A breakdown of the cost of shipping is roughly as follows:
Flight: $160
Carrier: $20 (for Dutch and baby French Lops, larger animals will require larger carriers, which are more expensive)
Bowl: $3
Delivery $5
The shipping costs and the rabbit must be paid for in full before date of shipping. Your total cost may be rounded up to cover the costs in the event that the carrier is overweight. Should there be a difference in the actual cost and the amount you paid, you will be sent a reciept and a refund for the difference, or you will be sent a reciept for the flight and a bill for the difference should you owe. Regardless you will recieve two reciepts in the mail: One from JAK Rabbitry with a breakdown of your costs and payment, the other fromt he airlines showing how much was paid for the flight.
Continental Airlines does not require a health certificate for flying rabbits, however a health certificate issued by a vet can be given along with your purchased animal upon request; however, the buyer is required to pay for the certificate and corresponding vet bill. A health certificate only costs $8 and covers an unlimited number of rabbits provided the inspection is done off property of the veterinary clinic. Buyer will also be responsible for the ''farm call'' the vet charges to come out for the inspection. Farm calls to my house as expensive however if I am having the vet out anyways for any of my other animals, I will cover the farm call and buyer need only cover the $8 health certificate, or otherwise pay the $60 farm call to my house. I can sometimes use the location of a relative's house who lives near our vet, but this is not going to be available 100% of the time. Please inquire about options regarding the above.
More photos and video are available upon request. This is mainly for people interested in a particular animal. Once you have reserved a particular rabbit, please do not bombard me with requests for more pictures and video. I have very little time on my hands and the option was put in place so people could make an educated choice, not for me to be taking weekly photos of your rabbit until you pick it up.
Prices listed on the FOR SALE page are not final and may fluctuate; however, the animal will be sold for the price advertised regardless if I was planning on changing it.
